KPK Prepared to Respect Ruling Ahead of Pre-Trial Hearing Against DPR Secretary General

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that it is prepared to respect the ruling of the Jakarta Selatan District Court judge regarding the pre-trial application submitted by the Secretary General of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Indra Iskandar. This pre-trial hearing pertains to the procurement of facilities and equipment for the official residences of DPR members in the 2020 fiscal year.

Acting Director of Investigations at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, said that the agency would conduct an investigation analysis if the judge accepts the case. However, he would respect the judge’s decision if it rules otherwise.

“But if it is rejected by the District Court, then we will, God willing, proceed with the investigation process,” Taufik stated during a press conference at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta Selatan on Monday (13/4/2026).

Nevertheless, Taufik noted that the investigation into this case is still ongoing. The investigative team is proceeding with caution because the 2025 Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) places greater emphasis on human rights (HAM).

In this case, the KPK has designated DPR RI Secretary General Indra Iskandar as a suspect. However, Indra has not yet been detained by the KPK. Indra was named a suspect along with six other individuals.

The KPK has previously explained the reasons for not detaining Indra. The KPK stated that it is still completing documents related to the state losses.

“Not yet. We’re still in the process. Regarding the DPR Secretary General’s case. For the case involving the DPR Secretary General, we are completing the documents. We are completing the documents for calculating the state losses,” said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution at the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/8).

For context, the KPK is investigating an alleged corruption case related to the procurement of equipment for the official residences of DPR members in the 2020 fiscal year. The KPK has indicated suspicions of price markups in this case.

“The case, if I’m not mistaken, involves price markups,” said the Deputy Chairman of the KPK at the time, Alexander Marwata, at the KPK building in Jakarta Selatan on Wednesday (6/3).

Alexander did not provide detailed explanations on the total budget that was inflated. He mentioned that the prices used in the project procurement were allegedly set higher than market prices.

The project is valued at Rp 120 billion. The losses in this case are suspected to amount to tens of billions of rupiah.
