Jakarta — The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) has signalled that it may summon Endang Sri Hariyatie, wife of former Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, as a witness in the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) case at the Transport Ministry.

The case concerns alleged bribery in connection with the construction and maintenance of railway lines under the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) within the Ministry of Transport.

“Any party believed to know and be able to explain or provide clarification to investigators, thereby illuminating this matter, certainly has the possibility of being summoned and scheduled to provide testimony,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at KPK headquarters on Tuesday.

However, he said the KPK would assess the progress of the investigation before deciding to summon Endang Sri Hariyatie.

“We will assess developments as witness examinations are based on sufficiency of the investigative process,” he said.

Previously, the case emerged following a raid conducted by the KPK on 11 April 2023 at the Class I Railway Engineering Centre for Central Java Region of the DJKA Ministry of Transport. The Centre has since been renamed the Class I Railway Engineering Centre for Semarang.

The KPK subsequently named and detained 10 suspects in connection with the alleged corruption case involving railway construction and maintenance projects in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.

As of 20 January 2026, the KPK has named and detained 21 suspects. The KPK has also named two corporations as suspects in the case.

The alleged corruption offences involve construction projects for the dual-track railway line from Solo Balapan to Kadipiro to Kalioso; railway construction projects in Makassar, South Sulawesi; four railway line construction projects and two supervision projects in Cianjur Lampung, West Java; and level crossing improvement projects in Java and Sumatra.

In the construction and maintenance of these projects, there are allegations that project winners were predetermined by certain parties through manipulation from the administrative process through tender award determination.

Budi Karya Sumadi had previously been examined by the KPK in this case. He was last examined by the KPK as a witness in the alleged DJKA corruption case on 9 March 2026.
