KPK Opens Possibility of Summoning Forestry Minister Raja Juli Over Kuansing Regent's Envelope
Jakarta, VIVA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has rejected the gratification report filed by Raja Juli following allegations that an envelope was given by suspended Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby.
Under KPK Regulation (Perkom) Number 1 of 2026 on Gratification Reporting, the rejection was made because the gratification in question has already entered the realm of examination, inquiry and investigation by law enforcement authorities.
Following the rejection, will Raja Juli be summoned by the KPK for questioning in connection with the case that has ensnared Suhardiman?
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said that the questioning of witnesses depends on the needs of investigators, so he could not confirm when the relevant party would be asked to give testimony.
“We will continue to provide updates, because the investigation is still progressing, and several witnesses have already been summoned,” he said on Friday, 17 July 2026.
Budi explained that investigators remain focused on the alleged bribery of the Regent by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) through an intermediary.
In addition, investigators are also looking into other payments received by the Regent, namely relating to the collection of money from Village Unit Cooperatives (KUD) for the processing of forest area permits in the Kuansing region.
“(The summoning of witnesses) relates to the position-related bribery and also other payments received by the Regent,” he revealed.
Previously, the KPK stated that the controversy over the envelope given by Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby to Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni had been concluded at the prevention stage.
“So at the prevention stage, regarding the gratification report filed by the Minister, the case is closed,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo on Thursday (16/7/2026).
Although the prevention stage has been completed, work at the enforcement deputy continues, with links still being explored.
This is because, based on the construction of the case, the contents of the envelope were collected from various parties by the Regent for the Minister. The KPK is therefore investigating the purpose and motive behind the payment.
“It will certainly be investigated – the intent, the purpose, whose initiative it was, and what the motive was; all of this will be examined by investigators,” Budi explained.
Separately, Budi revealed that the Directorate of Gratification and Public Services has completed the verification and analysis of the gratification report filed by the Minister. However, he could not disclose the results of that verification process.
