Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has opened the possibility of investigating parties within the Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) and the Ministry of Trade as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged corruption within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance.

“Yes, certainly so,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to Budi, this possibility is open due to trial facts regarding the alleged provision of funds from PT Blueray Cargo to parties within BPOM and the Ministry of Trade.

“The alleged payments from PT BR (Blueray Cargo) to parties in BPOM and also the Ministry of Trade need to be confirmed. The testimonies that have emerged in court need to be strengthened with other statements, whether from witnesses or other pieces of evidence,” he said.

Consequently, Budi noted that the investigation into the Customs case could still expand.

Previously, on 4 February 2026, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.

A day later, the KPK named six individuals as suspects in a case involving alleged bribery and gratification related to the import of counterfeit goods within the Customs environment.

The suspects include Rizal (RZL), the Director of Enforcement and Investigation at Customs for the 2024–January 2026 period and currently serving as the Head of the West Sumatra Regional Customs Office; the Head of the Sub-directorate of Intelligence, Enforcement, and Investigation at Customs, Sisprian Subiaksono (SIS); and the Head of the Customs Intelligence Section, Orlando Hamonangan (ORL).

Additionally, the KPK named the owner of Blueray Cargo, John Field (JF), the Import Documentation Team Leader of Blueray Cargo, Andri (AND), and the Operational Manager of Blueray Cargo, Dedy Kurniawan (DK), as suspects.

On 6 May 2026, John Field, Andri, and Dedy Kurniawan attended their first trial as defendants. During the proceedings, the name of the Director General of Customs and Excise, Djaka Budi Utama, appeared in the indictment of the three defendants.

In the indictment, Djaka Budi, along with Rizal, Sisprian Subiaksono, and Orlando Hamonangan, were alleged to have met with cargo entrepreneurs at a hotel in Jakarta in July 2025. One of the entrepreneurs present was John Field.

Subsequently, on 20 May 2026, KPK Prosecutors stated that Djaka Budi Utama allegedly received bribes amounting to 213,600 Singapore dollars. On 12 June 2026, during the trial, John Field admitted to providing up to Rp21 billion to Djaka Budi.

On the same date, the KPK Prosecutor read the interrogation report (BAP) of Andri during the trial. In the report, John Field instructed Andri to provide a sum of money to a deputy and a director at BPOM, as well as to four officials within the Ministry of Trade.
