The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) is intensifying searches to locate evidence in a case involving alleged extortion during the village official selection process in Pati Regency. The investigation has potential to be expanded if evidence emerges that clarifies the involvement of other parties.

“The possibility exists that from the series of examinations and searches conducted, should other evidence be discovered, the investigation will be developed,” said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo in a written statement on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

Budi declined to detail the evidence already gathered by investigators to date. All items seized by investigators are currently under review to establish the involvement of other parties.

“Searches were conducted to strengthen evidence, particularly against parties already designated as suspects,” said Budi.

The KPK has named four suspects in the Pati extortion case: Regent Sudewo (SDW), now inactive; Village Head Abdul Suyono of Karangrowo (YON); Village Head Sumarjion of Arumanis (JION); and Village Head Karjan of Sukorukun (JAN).

In this case, Sudewo and others are charged with violating Article 12 letter e of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code.

The KPK is investigating alleged extortion in village official recruitment in Pati, including budget planning and alleged position “dowry” (informal payments). The investigation centres on the selection process for village apparatus positions and the collection of payments from candidates.
