Jakarta (ANTARA) - The top legal news on Sunday (22/3) was dominated by explanations from the Corruption Eradication Commission regarding the house arrest status of Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, which was affirmed not due to illness but as part of the investigative strategy.
This was followed by opportunities for other detainees to apply for similar schemes, regional policies on registering new arrivals post-Eid, and a statement from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto affirming budget priorities for the people through the Free Nutritious Meals Programme.
KPK: Yaqut Cholil Qoumas placed under house arrest not due to illness
The Corruption Eradication Commission assured that the designation of Yaqut Cholil Qoumas as under house arrest in the alleged hajj quota corruption case was not motivated by health conditions, but rather part of considerations in law enforcement. “Not because of illness,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo.

The KPK emphasised that the detention policy towards Yaqut Cholil Qoumas is a strategy in the investigation process tailored to the needs of handling the case. “Every investigation process naturally has different conditions and case handling strategies,” said Budi.

The KPK also opened opportunities for other detainees to submit applications for house arrest under the applicable mechanisms, stressing that each application will be considered according to legal aspects and investigation needs.
