KPK on Finance Minister Purbaya Receiving Gifts During TikTok Live: If in Doubt, Report!
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has responded to the incident involving Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa receiving gifts during a live stream on TikTok with his child.
The KPK spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo, urged Purbaya to report to the anti-corruption agency if he has any doubts about the gifts received from viewers.
“If in doubt, he can consult or report it. Reporting gratifications is very easy; it can be done online through gol.kpk.go.id or through the Gratification Control Unit (UPG) at the Ministry of Finance, or he can report it directly to the KPK,” Budi said to reporters on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
Budi stated that the KPK appreciates Purbaya’s caution regarding the potential for gratification.
“We certainly appreciate the Minister for being aware and cautious about the potential for gratification,” he said.
However, he suggested that Purbaya disable the gift-receiving feature during future TikTok live streams and reminded him of the story of former National Police Chief General Hoegeng Iman Santoso.
“This reminds us of the story of General Hoegeng, who closed his wife’s flower shop because people who bought flowers might do so because of his position, which could lead to conflicts of interest,” he explained.
It is known that Finance Minister Purbaya appeared in a TikTok live stream through his child’s account. During the broadcast, they received several gifts, such as a “whale,” which was reportedly worth more than Rp1 million. (Ant)
