Senior officials from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) visited the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) on Thursday (2/4). Observations by CNNIndonesia.com at the location showed that the two KPK officials present were Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu and Director of Investigation Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto. Asep admitted that his visit was for coordinating the handling of ongoing corruption cases. However, he did not reveal further details about the corruption cases in question. “Of course, we from KPK, Polri, the Prosecutor’s Office, and supported by other stakeholders, are working together to handle corruption crimes. So, this is in the framework of coordination and communication,” he said to reporters at National Police Headquarters. He only explained that there are several corruption cases currently being coordinated with Polri’s Kortas Tipikor. Asep stated that the cases in question would be announced through a press conference if there are developments. “There are several cases that we are communicating about, but because this is still in the early stages, we cannot disclose them now,” he said. Separately confirmed, the Head of Polri’s Kortas Tipikor, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, also declined to reveal the corruption cases in question. He described the meeting between the two institutions as a common occurrence in the context of eradicating corruption. “(The meeting) is aimed at enhancing coordination and synergy between Kortas and KPK regarding the handling of several cases,” said Totok.
