KPK Names West Lombok Regent Suspect in Rp41.7 Billion Procurement Corruption Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini is a suspect in a corruption case involving a conflict of interest in the procurement of goods and services. One of the main projects under investigation is the rehabilitation of Giri Menang City Park, which had a budget of Rp2.3 billion in 2025 and continued with a second phase valued at Rp4.3 billion in 2026. Investigators also identified alleged corruption in the construction of the West Lombok Regency Government building, worth Rp2.4 billion, and the renovation of the Regent’s Office, valued at Rp1.7 billion.

KPK’s Acting Director of Investigation explained that the modus operandi involved the practice of ‘borrowing a company flag’ by Sudirman, the President Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang (Perseroda). Sudirman’s company was allegedly used to win tenders and control 32 project packages through direct appointment mechanisms across various regional agencies. The total value of these projects reached Rp41.7 billion, with Sudirman’s company reportedly securing a profit of approximately Rp10.6 billion.

The anti-graft body further alleges that Sudirman handed over Rp10.8 billion in funds to Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini. Following the investigation, the KPK has officially named three suspects: Lalu Ahmad Zaini, Sudirman, and Alvonsus Gani, a Director of PT Meconel Sistim Instrument. This case adds to the KPK’s extensive record of tackling abuse of authority in regional procurement processes.
