KPK Names West Lombok Regent and Two Others as Corruption Suspects, Immediately Detains Them

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini (LAZ), President Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang (Perseroda) Sudirman (SUD), and a private sector director with the initials ALG as suspects in a corruption case. The announcement was made in Jakarta on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.

Lalu Ahmad and Sudirman are suspected of being involved in a conflict of interest concerning the procurement of goods and services within the West Lombok Regency Government, West Nusa Tenggara. Both are charged under Article 12 letter i of Law Number 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001.

Furthermore, Lalu Ahmad and Sudirman are alleged to have acted as bribe recipients and are therefore also charged under Article 12 letter a or letter b and/or Article 12B of Law Number 31 of 1999, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c and Article 21 of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP). Meanwhile, the Director of PT MSI is suspected by the KPK of acting as the bribe giver and is charged under Article 605 or Article 606 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 on Criminal Adjustments.

Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, stated that the KPK has detained the three suspects for an initial period of 20 days, from 21 July to 9 August 2026. The suspects are being held at the KPK’s Red and White Building branch detention centre in Jakarta.

Prior to this, the KPK confirmed a sting operation (OTT) targeting Lalu Ahmad Zaini on 20 July 2026. The KPK initially stated that 19 people were apprehended, with seven brought to the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta for further examination. The KPK later announced the arrest of one additional person for further investigation in Jakarta. The eight individuals examined in Jakarta included Lalu Ahmad Zaini, Sudirman, the Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, and Settlement Areas Agency (PUPRPKP) of West Lombok, the regent’s aide, the aide and driver of the President Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang, and two private sector individuals.
