KPK Names Unsoed Rector and Vice Rector as Suspects in New Student Admission Bribery Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named the Rector of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed), Akhmad Sodiq, and his deputy, Norman Arie Prayogo, who serves as Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, as suspects in an extortion case involving new student admissions. In addition to the two, the KPK has also named four other parties as suspects.
“Based on the sufficiency of evidence, the KPK has named six people as suspects,” said Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, to journalists at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (21/8/2026).
The six individuals named as suspects are:
Ahmad Sodiq, Rector of Unsoed
Norman Arie Prayoga, Vice Rector III of Unsoed
Eko Sumanto, Head of the Academic Section at Unsoed
Dian Mulia Wardhana, a private party
Adhi Wiharto, a private party
Mulyono, a private party.
Taufik said the suspects were immediately detained for an initial period of 20 days. The detention is being carried out at the KPK Detention Centre, Merah Putih Building branch.
“The suspects are alleged to have violated Article 12 letter e or Article 12 B of Law Number 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption,” said Taufik.
It is known that Akhmad Sodiq was arrested in a sting operation (OTT) that took place on Thursday (20/8). Meanwhile, his vice rector was detained in Purwokerto.
“Regarding the alleged receipt of payments by state officials within Unsoed, or Universitas Jenderal Soedirman in Purwokerto, this is suspected to be related to student admissions, including at the Faculty of Medicine,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists on Friday (21/8).
In the sting operation, the KPK also seized a sum of money.
“There was a sum of money worth hundreds of millions of rupiah to secure a place as a student at the Faculty of Medicine there,” he added.
