KPK Names Three Suspects in Kuansing Sting Operation
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has announced the identities of three suspects resulting from a sting operation (OTT) in the Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regency, Riau, and Jakarta.
Based on observations at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building, the other two suspects are the Regent of Kuansing, Suhardiman Amby (SA), and the Regional Secretary of Kuansing, Zulkarnain (ZKN).
“First, SA as the Regent of Kuansing for the 2025-2030 period, ZKN as the Regional Secretary of Kuansing, and ARD as the President Director of PT MIC,” stated the Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/7).
Taufik explained that the three are suspects in a case involving alleged bribery regarding official positions within the Kuansing Regency Government, Riau. Furthermore, he explained that Zulkarnain and ARD, as alleged bribe givers, are charged with violating Article 605 or Article 606 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustment juncto Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code (KUHP).
Meanwhile, Suhardiman, as the alleged bribe receiver, is charged with violating Article 12 letter a or letter b and/or Article 12B of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001.
“The KPK will proceed with the detention of the suspects for the first 20 days. For ARD, the detention period is from 30 June to 19 July 2026, while for SA and ZKN, the detention is effective from 1 to 21 July 2026,” he said.
He added that the three suspects are being held at the State Detention Centre, Merah Putih Building branch of the KPK.
Previously, on 30 June 2026, the KPK confirmed it had conducted a sting operation in Kuansing and Jakarta, securing 10 individuals. This operation marks the 14th sting operation conducted by the KPK throughout 2026.
Of the 10 individuals detained, five were brought to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building for intensive interrogation. These individuals include three private sector representatives, one civil servant from the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government, and the wife of Suhardiman, Suci Nitia Edward.
The KPK had previously requested Suhardiman and Zulkarnain to surrender themselves for questioning. Both subsequently surrendered and were picked up by the KPK at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten.
Both are allegedly linked to a case involving the alleged bribery of the sale and purchase of the Regional Secretary position. In handling the case, the KPK also seized one vehicle suspected of being used as an instrument for the bribe.
