The Corruption Eradability Commission (KPK) conducted a case exposure on Monday night (8/6) following a sting operation (OTT) involving the Regent of Muara Enim, H Edison, and several other individuals.

“Regarding the series of events involving the sting operation during a closed investigation in the South Sumatra region, an exposure was conducted last night,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a written statement on Tuesday (9/6).

Based on the sufficiency of preliminary evidence obtained, the KPK has decided to escalate the case from the investigation stage to the full criminal investigation stage. “This is to subsequently designate the parties involved as suspects,” said Budi.

He was unable to provide specific details regarding the individuals named as suspects, noting that the information will be officially announced by the KPK during a press conference scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

“In this case, the alleged receipt of funds by the Regent is related to procurement processes within the scope of the Department of Education and Culture of Muara Enim Regency,” Budi explained.

Edison was flown from South Sumatra to Jakarta this morning at approximately 06:15 WIB and was scheduled to arrive at Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 07:25 WIB.

In addition to Edison, the KPK arrested nine other individuals during silent operations conducted in Jakarta and South Sumatra between 7-8 June. Five of the detainees are from the Muara Enim Regency Government, including the Regent, while the other five are from the private sector. The KPK enforcement team also seized hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash during the sting operation.
