Jakarta — Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has designated Jani alias Marjani (MJN), an aide to suspended Riau Governor Abdul Wahid, as a new suspect in an alleged extortion case within the Riau Provincial Government.

“MJN is suspected of acting together with the Governor in alleged extortion related to project budgets in the Department of Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, Settlement Areas and Land of Riau,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Monday.

Budi stated that MJN is charged with violating Article 12(e) of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 20(c) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP).

He noted that the designation of the new suspect indicates the investigation into the Abdul Wahid case will continue.

“We will still examine other new evidence more deeply and broadly,” he said.

On 4 November 2025, the KPK announced that Riau Governor’s Technical Advisor Dani M. Nursalam had surrendered to the anti-corruption agency. On 5 November 2025, the KPK announced the designation of Riau Governor Abdul Wahid (AW), Head of the Department of Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, Settlement Areas and Land (PUPRPKPP) Riau M. Arief Setiawan (MAS), and Riau Governor’s Technical Advisor Dani M. Nursalam (DAN) as suspects in an alleged corruption case related to extortion within the Riau Provincial Government in the 2025 budget year.
