The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named a new suspect in a case involving alleged bribery of officials at the Finance Ministry’s Directorate General of Customs and Excise. The suspect is Ahmad Dedi (AD), known as Dedi Congor, who is said to be an employee of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.

“AD, who is an employee of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, has also been named a suspect,” KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Friday (30 October 2026).

Budi said Dedi had been named a suspect in September 2026. The decision was made at the same time as the KPK named Gatot Heroe, deputy director of enforcement at the Directorate P2 of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, as a suspect.

“As of September 2026,” Budi said.

Dedi had previously been named a suspect by the police. The National Police’s Corruption Crime Task Force (Kortas Tipikor) named Ahmad Dedi, also known as Dedi Congor, as a suspect in 2023 in connection with alleged receipt of gratuities.

In addition to the case involving Dedi, the KPK has also expanded its investigation into cigarette excise. The commission searched the offices of PT Djarum in Kudus, Central Java, and the Kudus Medium-Type Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC TMC).

“This relates to suspected corruption involving state revenue. In other words, it concerns state financial losses under Articles 2 and 3, or Articles 603 and 604 of the Criminal Code, in relation to excise,” Budi said on Thursday (29 October).

“The initial estimate [of state losses] is in the trillions [of rupiah],” he added.

Before Dedi, the KPK had named eight suspects in the case. As the legal proceedings have progressed, three people from Blueray Cargo have been sentenced by the court. Their sentences are:

  1. John Field: three years in prison and a fine of Rp300 million, with 100 days’ imprisonment in default of payment.

  2. Deddy Kurniawan Sukolo: two and a half years in prison and a fine of Rp200 million, with 80 days’ imprisonment in default of payment.

  3. Andri: two and a half years in prison and a fine of Rp200 million, with 80 days’ imprisonment in default of payment.

Three Customs and Excise officials are also on trial in the case. They have been given prosecution demands of between seven and a half and 11 and a half years. They are:

  1. Rizal: 11 and a half years in prison, a fine of Rp1 billion with 190 days’ imprisonment in default of payment, and restitution of Rp15.7 billion, with four years’ imprisonment in default of payment.

  2. Sisprian Subiaksono: 10 years in prison, a fine of Rp1 billion with 190 days’ imprisonment in default of payment, and restitution of Rp7.4 billion, SGD150,000 and USD10,000, with three years’ imprisonment in default of payment.

  3. Orlando Hamonangan: seven and a half years in prison, a fine of Rp1 billion with 190 days’ imprisonment in default of payment, and restitution of Rp5,566,221,515 (Rp5.5 billion), with one year’s imprisonment in default of payment.

Another defendant, Budiman Bayu Prasojo, head of the Customs Intelligence Section at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise’s P2 unit, is still undergoing witness examination. Gatot Heroe, head of supervision and services at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise in the Kediri region, remains under investigation by the KPK.
