KPK: Muara Enim Regent Arrested Alongside Nine Others
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation (OTT) in Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra, on Monday (8/6/2026). The Regent of Muara Enim, H. Edison, is reported to be one of the individuals detained during the operation.
KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed the sting operation in Muara Enim. At this stage, the KPK is still keeping the specific details of the case under wraps. “Yes, that is correct,” Fitroh told reporters on Monday (8/6/2026).
KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that ten people were apprehended in the operation, including H. Edison. “Five individuals from the Muara Enim Regency Government, including the Regent, and five others from the private sector,” said Budi.
As of now, the operation is reported to be ongoing. The KPK will provide updates once the sting operation has concluded. “The team is still in the field,” Budi added.
Under the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has a 24-hour window to determine the legal status of the individuals caught in the sting operation.
