KPK: Minister of Transportation's Aide Allegedly Received Fee in DJKA Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has grilled Robby Kurniawan, an aide to the Minister of Transportation during the tenures of Budi Karya Sumadi and Dudy Purwagandhi, regarding allegations of receiving fees linked to railway line construction and maintenance projects at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) under the Ministry of Transportation.
This is a rescheduled session after Robby failed to attend the investigators’ summons on Monday (4/5).
The examination is intended to complete the case file for suspect Sudewo (SDW), a former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and former Regent of Pati.
“In this examination, the investigators delved into the witness’s statements regarding allegations of conditioning or plotting service providers or vendors who would later handle projects at DJKA,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the agency’s office in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5).
“Additionally, the investigators probed the alleged receipt of project fees by the suspect Mr SDW and the witness,” he added.
When asked about Budi Karya’s role in the fee receipts, Budi stated that this would be further explored in the examination process.
“We will still delve into that. So, the investigators have received information about alleged receipts carried out by Mr RB, who was summoned as a witness today,” said Budi.
He added that statements from other witnesses are needed by the investigators to complete the legal fact analysis regarding the fee receipts.
“We are confirming that information, what the statements are like, and of course from the statements given today or other supporting information that explains the alleged fee receipts, it will certainly still require statements from other witnesses, so the investigators will schedule further examinations,” said Budi.
Meanwhile, Robby was brief when questioned by the media about his examination today.
“Nothing, sir, just as a witness,” said Robby as he left the KPK office.
The KPK uncovered the corruption case involving the receipt of bribes by state officials (PN) within DJKA related to railway line development in South Sulawesi, Central Java, West Java, and Java-Sumatra for the 2018-2022 fiscal years through a Handcuff Operation (OTT) in 2023.
At that time, the KPK arrested 25 people, with 16 caught in Jakarta and Depok, West Java, 8 in Semarang, and 1 in Surabaya.
In the handcuff operation, the KPK also found and seized several pieces of evidence, including cash of around Rp2.027 billion, US$20,000, debit cards worth Rp346 million, and bank account balances of Rp150 million, totalling approximately Rp2.823 billion.
Several suspects, such as former Director of Railway Infrastructure Harno Trimadi, Commitment Making Official of the Central Java Railway Technical Office (PPK BTP Jabagteng) Bernard Hasibuan, Head of BTP Jabagteng Putu Sumarjaya, Director of PT KA Property Management Yoseph Ibrahim, and VP of PT KA Property Management Parjono, have been tried at the Corruption Court (Tipikor).
