KPK Leadership to Oversee Jakarta Development Projects to Prevent Misuse by Contractors
Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Deputy Chairman Johanis Tanak has stated that the anti-graft body will supervise field contractors involved in Jakarta provincial government projects. Johanis explained to Governor Pramono that there may be contractors who perform poorly or abuse their authority in carrying out work.
He made the remarks during a fun walk event held by the Jakarta provincial government together with the KPK as part of an anti-corruption campaign in Sudirman, Jakarta, on Sunday (16/8/2026). He began by saying that the KPK was present to support the work programmes of the Jakarta provincial government.
“We are here to support the work programmes of the Jakarta Provincial Government so that all development projects can be carried out properly, correctly and with a full sense of responsibility,” Johanis said in his speech on Sunday (16/8).
He said the KPK would continue to provide oversight to ensure that development projects are not misused by field contractors. Johanis noted that Governor Pramono might not be aware of contractors who perform poorly or abuse their authority.
“We will also continue to provide oversight so that no development projects are misused by field contractors. The Governor certainly expects the best, but he may not know that there are contractors who are not good,” he explained.
Johanis requested public support so that every development activity carried out by the Jakarta provincial government continues to be coordinated with the KPK. This is intended to enable swift and firm action if any abuse of authority is found.
“Therefore, we ask for the support of all members of the public so that whenever there is a development activity under the Jakarta provincial government, please inform the Governor and also inform us so that we can coordinate with the Governor and then take firm action against those who abuse the authority entrusted to them,” he said.
“This includes, of course, misusing public money, particularly public money belonging to the Jakarta provincial government. Because what is used by the Jakarta government is ultimately sourced from the people of Jakarta Province,” he concluded.
