KPK kept busy with graft cases in Jambi

JAMBI: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has received 185 graft case files from Jambi prosecutors, on top of 8,640 reports from the public on graft.

The corruption cases involve hundreds of billions of rupiah, making Jambi the 11th most corrupt province in the country, a government official said on Wednesday.

Indonesia has 33 provinces.

Asep R. Suwanda, an official with the KPK visiting Jambi, said the commission was investigating the cases. The KPK was formed to investigate corruption cases involving potential state losses of more than Rp 1 billion.

Among the high-profile cases being investigated by the KPK in Jambi is alleged graft in the provincial council and alleged markups in several government projects in the province. -- JP
