KPK Investigators Search Denpasar Immigration Office for Seven Hours

Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators conducted a search and seizure at the Denpasar Immigration Office lasting approximately seven hours on Friday. The operation is linked to the development of a sting operation (OTT) case involving bribery and illegal levies in the processing of residence permits (KITAS and KITAP) for foreign nationals (WNA).

Head of the Information and Communication Technology Section at the Denpasar Immigration Office, Putu Suhendra, confirmed the visit and stated that the staff cooperated fully, ensuring the process was not tense. The investigators arrived around 9:30 AM local time and the search and seizure process continued until 3:00 PM.

Suhendra explained that the KPK team collected data and documents related to the sting operation, including requesting service data from the Denpasar Immigration Office from 2021 to 2026. The investigators also gathered information and statements from staff handling the relevant fields. Observations at the scene noted that investigators left the office carrying several suitcases and equipment, which were loaded into a vehicle before they departed. Uniformed police officers were present to secure the evidence collection process.

This search is part of a broader KPK investigation into alleged corruption within the Directorate General of Immigration. The case involves suspected extortion related to residence permits for foreign nationals, with the KPK previously naming Deputy Minister for Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim as a suspect. The KPK has also uncovered alleged extortion involving deposits of Rp100 million per week and has identified suspicious financial flows totalling Rp366.7 billion in the accounts of 35 civil servants within the ministry.
