KPK Investigating Free Nutritious Meal Corruption as Attorney General's Office Detains Former BGN Leaders

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradancy Commission (KPK) has stated that it is conducting an investigation into alleged corruption related to the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme within the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), at a time when the Attorney General’s Office has announced the detention of former BGN leaders.

“We actually already had an investigation underway, but subsequently, other law enforcement agencies (the Attorney General’s Office) have escalated the process to the investigation stage,” said the Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, at the KPK Red and White Building, Jakarta, on Monday.

Consequently, Taufik noted that the KPK will determine the next steps for the investigation into the alleged MBG corruption through a case exposure or legal review.

“Whether we will expand this into an investigation process, or whether the data will be handed over to the Attorney General’s Office, we will wait for the results of the case exposure and the decision made by the leadership,” he said.

Previously, on 3 June 2026, the Attorney General’s Office named the former Head of the BGN, Dadan Hindayana, along with former Deputy Heads of the BGN, Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sanjaya, as suspects in a corruption case involving the management of the MBG programme.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, one of the methods used by the former BGN leaders involved appointing several foundations that did not meet the necessary requirements and were affiliated with them to serve as MBG kitchens or Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG). It is alleged that they subsequently received benefits from these foundations.

Furthermore, the Attorney General’s Office suspects that they engaged in mark-ups or price inflation in several goods and services procurements, resulting in losses to state finances.
