KPK Investigates Ridwan Kamil's Brother Regarding Volvo Car Purchase
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) interrogated the brother of the former Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, Erwin Muniruzaman, last week to further investigate the purchase of a Volvo car.
The interrogation is related to the investigation of an alleged corruption case involving advertising procurement at Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat dan Banten Tbk (bank bjb).
“Regarding the witness ERW, who is also the brother of Mr RK, who held the position of Governor of West Java during the period of the alleged crime. During the examination, investigators deepened their inquiry into Mr ERW’s knowledge regarding the purchase of a Volvo car made by Mr RK in 2023,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Monday (5/10).
“Naturally, investigators are looking into the origins of the purchase of said vehicle because the timeframe is related to the case currently under investigation,” he continued.
Budi noted that the Volvo car was allegedly resold by Erwin in August 2025.
“Naturally, investigators will continue to trace and track other assets that are suspected to be linked to the case currently under investigation,” he said.
As the investigation proceeds, another vehicle has been linked to Ridwan Kamil, namely a Mercedes Benz 280 SL, which is known to have belonged to BJ Habibie.
According to Ridwan Kamil, that car, along with a Royal Enfield motorcycle, is not related to the case being investigated. The KPK has already seized the vehicles in question.
In addition to Erwin, the KPK has also interrogated Randy Kusumaatmadja, who served as Ridwan Kamil’s Personal Assistant during his tenure as governor. Randy has been questioned as a witness at least three times.
During the first examination on Monday (14/9), the KPK scrutinised transactions in Randy’s bank accounts. Meanwhile, during the second examination on Thursday, 29 January 2026, investigators looked into Ridwan Kamil’s activities and their sources of funding.
The KPK has also questioned Ridwan Kamil and the former President Director of PT bank bjb for the period 2019–March 2025, Yuddy Renaldi, as a witness.
On Monday, 10 August, the KPK detained four suspects at the State Detention Centre (Rutan). They are the Head of the Change Management Office Division of bank bjb and former Head of the Corporate Secretary Division 2020-2024, Widi Hartoto; Director of PT Cakrawala Kreasi Mandiri & Owner of PT Antedja Muliatama, Ikin Asikin Dulmanan; Director of PT Wahana Semesta Bandung Ekspres, Suhendrik; and Commissioner of PT Cipta Karya Sukses Bersama, Elang Sophan Jaya Kusuma.
