KPK investigates recommendation practices for Unsoed prospective students
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is deepening its investigation into the provision of recommendations for prospective new students at Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed).
KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the anti-corruption agency conducted this investigation by questioning nine witnesses regarding alleged corruption in the Unsoed student admission process on Tuesday (22/9).
“All witnesses were present. Investigators are delving into witness statements regarding allegations of practices involving the placement or provision of recommendations to prospective students to ensure their admission to Unsoed,” Budi told journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Budi noted that the nine witnesses include two Unsoed employees, identified by the initials NA and ANH, and seven civil servants from the Banyumas Regency Regional Secretariat, identified as AS, AAP, DPM, ISR, WAS, MNF, and EP.
Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) involving several individuals from the Unsoed Rectorate on 20 August 2026.
A day later, the KPK named the Rector of Unsoed, Prof. Akhmad Sodiq, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Norman Arie Prayogo, the Head of Academic Affairs at Unsoed, Eko Sumanto, Mulyono (Sodiq’s nephew), as well as intermediaries Dian Mulia Wardhana and Adhi Wiharto, as suspects in the alleged corruption case involving Unsoed student admissions.
The KPK suspects that Norman, through Dian and Adhi, extorted the parents of prospective students for up to Rp650 million to secure admission to the Faculty of Medicine, though the students were ultimately not admitted.
Furthermore, the KPK suspects that Sodiq instructed his nephew to accept payments from parents of prospective students, totalling Rp680 million during the 2025-2026 period. The funds were allegedly used by Sodiq to purchase three plots of land, which were registered under Mulyono’s name.
Finally, the KPK suspects that Sodiq granted approval access for admissions to Eko after the Head of Academic Affairs received Rp1.12 billion from a middleman working as a teacher during the 2025-2026 period.
