The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is currently investigating a new case related to the construction and maintenance projects of railway tracks under the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) in South Sumatra.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that this new case is an expansion of investigations stemming from a previous sting operation. “This is a development from the initial investigation that began with a caught-in-the-act event. Consequently, the KPK issued a new investigation order as of May 2026,” he said in a written statement on Tuesday.

Nevertheless, the KPK is still utilising a general investigation order for this expansion, meaning no suspects have been officially named yet. Budi added that investigators have begun summoning several witnesses for questioning.

He noted that examinations have been conducted for Anisah (ANS), the President Director of PT Surya Annisa Kencana. Meanwhile, Farah Dina Eka Syamriati (FD), a civil servant at the Class II Railway Technical Office for the Southern Sumatra Region, has yet to respond to summons. “Witness FD did not attend, and so far, investigators have not received confirmation from the witness. Witness ANS attended and is being questioned regarding the implementation of the railway track construction projects in the South Sumatra region,” he explained.

On Wednesday, the KPK summoned an employee of the Ministry of Transportation, identified by the initials JRO, as a witness in the investigation of alleged bribery regarding the railway track construction and maintenance projects within the DJKA environment in South Sumatra. “The examination took place at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building for JRO, acting as a civil servant at the Class II Railway Technical Office in Palembang,” Budi told journalists in Jakarta.

In addition to JRO, the KPK also summoned the President Director of PT Wira Cipta Mandiri Consultant, identified by the initials JLD, as a witness. Budi also mentioned that investigators have scheduled examinations for two convicts from the previous case, Harno Trimadi and Zulfikar Fahmi, at the Class I Sukamiskin Prison in Bandung, West Java.

Previously, the KPK uncovered a corruption case involving the acceptance of bribes by state officials within the DJKA regarding railway track construction in South Sulawesi, Central Java, West Java, and Java-Sumatra for the 2018-2022 fiscal years through a sting operation in 2023. During that operation, the KPK arrested 25 individuals across Jakarta, Depok, Semarang, and Surabaya, and seized evidence including approximately Rp2.027 billion in cash, US$20,000, debit cards worth Rp346 million, and bank balances totaling Rp150 million, with a total value of approximately Rp2.823 billion.
