KPK Investigates Asset Purchases by Former Head of Banjarmasin Tax Office
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is deepening its investigation into the purchase of assets by the former Head of the Banjarmasin Medium Tax Office (KPP Madya), Mulyono Purwo Wijoyo.
KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the anti-corruption agency is examining the matter by questioning a private individual, identified by the initials DS, as a witness in the alleged corruption case within the Banjarmins Medium Tax Office environment in South Kalimantan.
“The witness has appeared. Investigators are looking into the alleged sale of assets in the form of land and buildings purchased by MUL (Mulyono), which were subsequently registered under the names of other individuals,” Budi told journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The case originated from a sting operation (OTT) at the Banjarmasin Medium Tax Office on 4 February 2026.
A day later, the KPK named the Head of the Banjarmasin Medium Tax Office, Mulyono Purwo Wijoyo, a tax office employee, Dian Jaya Demega, and the Finance Manager of PT Buana Karya Bhakti, Venasius Jenarus Genggor, as suspects in a corruption case related to tax restitution.
The KPK explained that the case began with a request for ‘appreciation money’ after the Banjarmasin Medium Tax Office processed a Value Added Tax (VAT) restitution application for PT Buana Karya Bhakti.
The company had applied for VAT restitution for the 2024 tax year, reporting an overpayment status. An audit by the tax office revealed an overpayment value of Rp49.47 billion, with a fiscal correction of Rp1.14 billion, resulting in a final restitution value of Rp48.3 billion.
In exchange for processing the application, the suspects allegedly received a total of Rp1.5 billion, which was subsequently distributed according to their respective shares.
On 20 July 2026, the KPK announced further developments in the investigation. As part of this expansion, the KPK announced the seizure of 680,000 US dollars, 1.3 kilograms of gold, and Rp100 million following searches at various locations and returns made by witnesses.
