KPK Investigates Allegations Former Tulungagung Regent Received Money via BPKAD
Jakarta, VIVA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is looking into allegations that former Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo received money through the Head of the Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of Tulungagung Regency.
The investigation was carried out by examining the Head of the Tulungagung Regency BPKAD, Dwi Hary Subagyo, along with four other witnesses on Thursday, 16 July 2026.
“The five witnesses appeared in response to investigators’ summons. In this examination, investigators are looking into the alleged receipt of money by the regent through the Head of BPKAD,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists on Friday, 17 July 2026.
The four other witnesses were DR, an employee of PT Moderna Tehnik Perkasa; HMW, the authorised representative of the Director of PT Moderna Tehnik Perkasa; TRH, Head of the Procurement Division at the Tulungagung Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Office; and HIL, an employee of the East Java Provincial Office of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).
The case originated from a sting operation conducted by the KPK in Tulungagung, East Java, on 10 April 2026.
In that operation, the KPK arrested 18 people, including Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his younger brother, Jatmiko Dwijo Saputro, who is also a member of the Tulungagung Regency Legislative Council (DPRD).
The following day, the KPK named Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his aide, Dwi Yoga Ambal, as suspects in alleged extortion and other unlawful receipt of funds within the Tulungagung Regency Government for the 2025–2026 fiscal year.
The KPK suspects that Gatut Sunu extorted regional apparatus officials by requiring them to sign letters of resignation from their posts and civil servant status, stamped but undated.
Through this scheme, the KPK suspects Gatut Sunu received approximately Rp2.7 billion out of a target of Rp5 billion, allegedly sourced from 16 heads of regional work units (SKPD) or regional apparatus organisations (OPD) within the Tulungagung Regency Government. (Ant)
