KPK Interrogates Unsoed Vice-Rectors and Lecturers Over Student Admission Process

The Corruption Eradancy Commission (KPK) has revealed that seven witnesses, including vice-rectors, professors, and lecturers from Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed), attended interrogations on Tuesday, 15 September 2026. The examinations were conducted at the Banyumas Regional Police Headquarters, Central Java.

“All summoned witnesses attended and provided the information required by investigators,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Wednesday (16/9).

The witnesses include the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs (Warek I), Noor Farid; the Vice-Rector for General Affairs and Finance (Warek II), Kuat Puji Prayitno; the Vice-Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Public Relations (Warek IV), Waluyo Handoko; and Professor of Communication Philosophy at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Nana Sutikna. Also interrogated were lecturers from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Mochamad Sugiyarto; the Faculty of Law, Weda Kupita; and the Faculty of Medicine, Untung Gunarto.

Budi explained that the interrogations are intended to deepen the findings from a series of previous searches. “This is to confirm and obtain a complete account of the process and mechanism of new student admissions, particularly through the independent track, including allegations regarding ‘reserved’ placements,” said Budi.

He added that the process also aims to verify documents and Electronic Evidence (BBE) obtained during the search operations. On 9-10 September, the KPK conducted searches across six locations, targeting the residences of Vice-Rectors I, II, and IV; the home of a lecturer; the office of the Banyumas Regional Secretary; and the home of a high school teacher in Tasikmalaya, who is suspected of acting as a coordinator for collecting prospective students.

The search of the Banyumas Regional Secretary’s office was conducted because the individual is suspected of knowing about recommendations provided to ensure students who paid certain sums were admitted to Unsoed. “Investigators found several documents and Electronic Evidence (BBE), including those related to the placement of prospective students at Unsoed,” Budi stated on Friday (11/9).

Previously, on 23 and 24 August 2026, the KPK searched six houses belonging to suspects as well as the Unsoed rectorate building. From the rectorate office, investigators discovered a 2023 KPK Circular Letter (SE) regarding recommendations for improving the independent student admission process. This circular included a warning from the KPK to increase transparency regarding admission quotas and passing criteria.

The KPK has named a total of six suspects in this case involving alleged extortion and gratification related to student admissions at Unsoed. The suspects include the Rector of Unsoed, Akhmad Sodiq; Vice-Rector III of Unsoed, Norman Arie Prayoga; the Head of Academic Affairs at Unsoed, Eko Sumanto; and three private individuals identified as Dian Mulia Wardhana, Adhi Wiharto, and Mulyono.

This legal action follows a sting operation (OTT) in Purwokerto and Jakarta, as well as intensive investigations by the KPK since Thursday (20/8). The suspects have been detained at the KPK Merah Putih Building’s detention centre.
