KPK Interrogates Pemuda Pancasila Chairman Japto Soerjosoemarno
Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has questioned Japto Soerjosoemarno, chairman of the Pemuda Pancasila national leadership council, in connection with an investigation into alleged bribery offences involving former Kutai Kartanegara Regent Rita Widyasari.
Japto was questioned as a witness at the KPK’s Red and White Building headquarters in South Jakarta on 10 March 2026, according to KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo.
The investigation concerns alleged gratification offences in Kutai Kartanegara district, East Kalimantan. On 28 September 2017, the KPK designated Widyasari, PT Sawit Golden Prima director general Hery Susanto Gun, and PT Media Bangun Bersama commissioner Khairudin as suspects in the case.
Widyasari is suspected of receiving approximately 6 billion rupiah in bribes related to the issuance of location permits for palm oil plantations in Kupang Baru village, Muara Kaman district, awarded to PT Sawit Golden Prima.
On 16 January 2018, the KPK designated Widyasari and Khairudin as suspects in alleged money laundering offences. During the investigation, authorities seized 91 vehicles, five plots of land totalling thousands of square metres, and 30 luxury watches of various brands, as disclosed on 6 June 2024.
In February 2025, the KPK revealed that Widyasari is also suspected of receiving millions of US dollars in connection with coal mining operations, amounting to approximately 5 US dollars per metric tonne of coal. On 19 February 2026, the KPK designated three corporate entities as suspects in an alleged gratification case related to coal production in Kutai Kartanegara: PT Sinar Kumala Naga, PT Alamjaya Barapratama, and PT Bara Kumala Sakti.
