KPK interrogates five witnesses regarding mining production non-tax state revenue in Kutai Kartanegara

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) interrogated five witnesses on Tuesday (2/6) to deepen the investigation into non-tax state revenue (PNBP) from mining production in the Kutai Kartanegara region, East Kalimantan.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo informed journalists in Jakarta that investigators are examining PNBP related to mining production, which includes fixed fees paid as compensation for work areas granted to permit holders, as well as production fees or royalties calculated as a percentage of the value of mineral and coal production or sales.

Budi stated that the five witnesses interrogated for the investigation into alleged gratification regarding coal production metric tonnes in Kutai Kartage, East Kalimantan, consist of both government and private sector parties. One of the witnesses is Endri Erawan, an Exco member of PSSI who also serves as the President Director of PT Alamjaya Bara Pratama and is the brother-in-law of the former Regent of Kutai Kartanegara, Rita Widyasari.

Previously, on 28 September 2017, the KPK named the Regent of Kutai Kartanegara, Rita Widyasari, the President Director of PT Sawit Golden Prima, Hery Susanto Gun, and the Commissioner of PT Media Bangun Bersama, Khairudin, as suspects in a suspected gratification case in the region. Rita is alleged to have received bribes amounting to Rp6 billion in relation to the granting of location permits for oil palm plantations in Kupang Baru Village, Muara Kaman District, to PT Sawit Golden Prima.

On 6 June 2024, the KPK revealed it had seized 91 vehicles and various other economically valuable items, five plots of land totalling thousands of square metres, and 30 luxury watches from various brands during the investigation. On 19 February 2025, the KPK disclosed that Rita Widyasari was also alleged to have received millions of US dollars related to coal mining, specifically up to approximately 5 US dollars per metric tonne of coal.

One year later, on 19 February 2026, the KPK announced three corporations as suspects in the suspected gratification case related to coal production metric tonnes in Kutai Kartanegara: PT Sinar Kumala Naga (SKN), PT Alamjaya Barapratama (ABP), and PT Bara Kumala Sakti (BKS).
