KPK Interrogates Brother of Former West Java Governor Regarding Car Purchase
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has interrogated Erwin Muniruzaman, the brother of the former Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil (RK). The interrogation is part of the KPK’s investigation into the purchase of a Volvo vehicle by RK, which was notably used during the inauguration of the Acting Governor of West Java in 2023.
Erwin was questioned by the KPK on Friday (2/10) alongside another witness, Aburizal Ahmad Sofwan, who serves as the Acting Head of the Marketing Communications Group at Bank BJB Headquarters.
“The witness, ERW, who is the brother of Mr RK, who held the position of Governor of West Java during the period in question, was examined. During the interrogation, investigators delved into Mr ERW’s knowledge regarding the purchase of the Volvo vehicle by Mr RK in 2023,” stated KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists on Monday (5/10/2026).
Budi explained that investigators are currently scrutinising the purchase process, as the acquisition allegedly took place while RK was serving as Governor. “Investigators are looking into the origins of the vehicle’s purchase because the timeframe is directly related to the ongoing investigation,” Budi clarified.
Budi further noted that the car has since been sold, and it is suspected that the vehicle was resold by Erwin in August 2024. “Naturally, investigators will continue to trace and track other assets suspected to be linked to the ongoing investigation,” he added.
Previously, the KPK also interrogated Randy Kusumaatmadja, the former personal assistant to former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil. From Randy’s examination, the KPK suspects that the former assistant’s bank account was used to facilitate the flow of funds related to an advertising procurement case.
Randy’s interrogation pertains to alleged corruption in advertising procurement at Bank BJB, where it is suspected that half of the total procurement funds were deposited into Randy’s account before being distributed to various parties. Randy has been questioned three times, specifically on Thursday (21/1), Monday (14/9), and Wednesday (30/9), with examinations conducted at the West Java Regional Police office and the PU Competency Development Centre Region IV Bandung. During previous sessions, investigators interrogated Randy regarding his transaction history.
In this case, the KPK has named five suspects in the alleged advertising procurement corruption, which is estimated to have caused state losses of up to Rp 222 billion. The KPK suspects these funds were used to meet non-budgetary requirements.
Four of the suspects have already been detained:
Widi Hartoto, Head of Corporate Secretary Division at Bank BJB (2020-2024)
Ikin Asikin Dulmanan, Director of PT Cakrawala Kreasi Mandiri & Owner of PT Antedja Muliatama
Sophan Jaya Kusuma, Commissioner of PT Cipta Karya Sukses Bersama
Suhendrik, Director of PT Wahana Semesta Bandung Ekspres
The suspects are charged under Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes.
