KPK Insists No Intimidation of Ono Surono's Wife During Search
Ono Surono’s legal representative has alleged intimidation by KPK investigators during a search at the residence of the West Java Deputy Provincial Council Chairman and West Java PDI Perjuangan Chairman. The KPK has refuted claims of intimidation.
“There was no (intimidation). The search operation proceeded smoothly, well, and even the family received the activity openly,” stated KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (2/4/2026). Budi was responding to journalists’ questions about any alleged intimidation towards Ono’s wife.
Budi explained that the KPK conducted the search to obtain additional evidence in the ongoing case investigation. Any search by the KPK is always based on legal procedures.
“And in fact, during this search, the investigators secured, found, and seized several pieces of evidence, which will certainly assist in the investigation process of this case,” he said.
Budi further clarified that every KPK search is accompanied by witnesses. In this search, the KPK seized cash from Ono’s private room.
“In every search conducted by the KPK, there is certainly accompaniment, either from family members or local apparatus, such as from the sub-district or village devices,” he stated.
Furthermore, Budi emphasised that there was no intervention during the KPK investigators’ search. The operation ran smoothly.
“The investigative team was also welcomed by the family, with no intervention as per the narratives circulating in society,” he added.
Ono Surono’s legal counsel, who is also the Head of BBHAR of the West Java PDI Perjuangan DPD, Sahali, previously assessed that the facts on the ground differed from the KPK’s statements. He claimed that investigators requested the CCTV be turned off.
Additionally, Sahali alleged that Ono’s wife was intimidated. His side viewed the search as not purely law enforcement but laden with certain interests.
“After the CCTV was turned off, the investigators are alleged to have intimidated Ono Surono’s wife. There was even pushing and shoving with the legal advisor who tried to protect Ono Surono’s wife,” said Sahali, quoted from detikJabar, on Thursday (2/4).
“The investigators insisted on seizing Rp50 million belonging to the family and Rp200 million belonging to many arisan participants from Ono Surono’s wife. Even though evidence from the WA Group arisan was shown to the investigators, proving the arisan money belonged to many people, it was ignored by the investigators,” Sahali added.
The KPK searched Ono’s house in Bandung on Wednesday (1/4) and seized hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash. The KPK then continued the search at Ono’s house in Indramayu on Thursday (2/4).
