KPK Imprisons Former Deputy Minister Immanuel Ebenezer and 10 Others in Sukamiskin for K3 Certificate Extortion
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has imprisoned former Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan and ten other convicts at the Class I Sukamiskin Penitentiary in Bandung, West Java. The group was convicted in a corruption case involving alleged extortion in the processing of occupational safety and health (K3) certificates.
KPK Director of Asset Tracking, Evidence Management, and Execution Mungki Hadipratikto stated that the physical punishment for the 11 convicts in the K3 case was executed on Wednesday at around 11:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo added that the execution could proceed because neither the convicts nor the anti-corruption agency pursued further legal remedies, meaning the court’s decision had become legally binding.
The case originated from a KPK sting operation. On 22 August 2025, the KPK named Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan, then Deputy Minister of Manpower, along with ten other individuals, as suspects. The other suspects included various ministry officials such as Irvian Bobby Mahendro, Gerry Aditya Herwanto Putra, Subhan, Anitasari Kusumawati, Fahrurozi, Hery Sutanto, and Sekarsari Kartika Putri, as well as private sector individuals Temurila and Miki Mahfud from PT KEM Indonesia. Three additional suspects were later announced in December 2025. On 4 June 2026, a panel of judges at the Jakarta Central District Court’s Corruption Court sentenced Ebenezer to 4 years and 6 months in prison.
