The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) immediately began a case review following a sting operation at the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) on Tuesday night (13 October).

“We are also conducting further enquiries, and tonight we will, of course, hold a meeting and take other steps,” KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu said in Yogyakarta on Tuesday (13 October).

“Further details will be provided after we have held the case review, and will then be officially announced at a press conference,” he added.

The operation at BNPB relates to alleged corruption in the form of bribes connected with procurement. Several people were caught in the operation.

“There was indeed an operation in the field by KPK officers,” KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto said in a written message on Tuesday (13 October).

During the covert operation, the KPK team seized preliminary evidence worth at least around Rp1.5 billion.
