KPK Has Named Suspects in Muara Enim Regent Edison Bribery Case
The Corruption Eradancy Commission (KPK) has announced that it has identified suspects following the sting operation (OTT) involving Muara Enim Regent, Edison.
“Based on the sufficiency of the preliminary evidence obtained, it has been decided that this case will proceed to the investigation stage to subsequently designate the parties involved as suspects,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday, 9 June 2026.
According to Budi, the KPK named the suspects after conducting a case review on Monday night (8/6). He hinted that Edison is among the suspects in the alleged corruption case.
“In this case, the alleged receipt of funds by the Regent is related to procurement processes within the scope of the Department of Education and Culture of Muara Enim Regency,” he said.
Previously, on 8 June 2026, the KPK announced the arrest of ten individuals during the sting operation in South Sumatra, consisting of five officials from the Muara Enim Regency Government and five private sector representatives. The KPK also confirmed that Edison, the Regent of Muara Enim, was one of the ten individuals apprehended.
Edison was arrested in South Sumatra and transported to Jakarta by the KPK on Tuesday, 9 June 2026. Additionally, the KPK reported the seizure of several hundred million rupiah in cash during the operation. This sting operation marks the twelfth such operation conducted by the KPK in 2026.
