Jakarta, VIVA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has transferred two case files of alleged corruption involving former member of the House of Representatives Commission V and also the non-active Pati Regent, Sudewo, to prosecutors.

‘The prosecutors then prepare their indictments within a maximum of 14 days,’ KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

He said KPK prosecutors may consolidate indictments for several cases under investigation so that the law enforcement process can run effectively.

According to Budi, this can be done in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).

The two cases involving Sudewo relate to allegations of extortion against candidates for village officials in Pati Regency, Central Java, and alleged bribes in the construction and maintenance of a railway line under the Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportation.

On a separate occasion, after undergoing questioning by the KPK, Sudewo said he will face trial in Semarang, Central Java.

In addition, he asserted that he had no authority and even interfered in the village official election process.

‘Unlike when Mr Haryanto was Regent. That should have been the village’s authority, but it was taken over by the Regent, and that violated the law. So, this is different,’ he said.

Previously, on 19 January 2026, the KPK conducted an arrest operation (OTT) against Sudewo in Pati Regency, Central Java.

The following day, the KPK took Sudewo along with seven others to its Red and White Building in Jakarta for the investigation process.

On 20 January 2026, the KPK named four suspects in the extortion case related to filling village official positions in Pati Regency.

They are Sudewo, Karangrowo Village Head Abdul Suyono, Arumanis Village Head Sumarjiono, and Sukorukun Karjan Village Head.

In addition, Sudewo was named as a suspect in a case of alleged bribes in the construction and maintenance of a railway line under the Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportation.
