The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has again detained three suspects in the alleged bribery case involving community group (pokmas) grant funds from the East Java Provincial Government for the 2019-2022 fiscal year. The anti-corruption body has guaranteed it will complete the handling of this case this year. “It is our commitment to complete the case this year,” said Acting KPK Director of Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein to reporters at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (22/7/2026).

For context, the KPK has named 21 suspects in this case. To date, only seven suspects have been detained. Meanwhile, the investigation into one suspect, former East Java DPRD Chairman Kusnadi (KUS), was halted after he passed away. Taufik also stated that his team would take coercive measures against the remaining suspects. He stressed that investigators would soon complete the case up to the prosecution stage. “We hope and pray together that the investigation team will promptly complete and carry out the subsequent investigative processes, further coercive measures, detention, and handover to the prosecution stage,” Taufik explained.

It is understood that today’s detentions are a continuation of the investigation into the alleged bribery case involving community group grant funds. “Today, Wednesday, 22 July 2026, the KPK has detained three suspects who are the givers,” revealed Achmad Taufik Husein during a press conference. The three suspects are Achmad Yahya (AY), a private sector party; M. Fathullah (MF), a private sector party; and Ra. Wahid Ruslan (RWR), a private sector party. Taufik explained that the three are suspected of being the bribe givers in this case. They are being detained for the first 20 days at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building Detention Centre. “The three suspects have been detained for the first 20 days, starting from 22 July to 10 August 2026, at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building Detention Centre,” Taufik stated.

Previously, the KPK had detained four other suspects who also acted as bribe givers, namely Hasanuddin (HAS), a member of the East Java DPRD for the 2024-2029 period and a private sector party from Gresik Regency; Jodi Pradana Putra (JPP), a private sector party from Blitar Regency; Sukar (SUK), a former village head from Tulungagung Regency; and Wawan Kristiawan (WK), a private sector party from Tulungagung Regency. In total, the KPK has named 21 suspects in this case concerning the management of East Java Provincial Budget grant funds for 2019-2022. The naming of these suspects is a development from a previous case that ensnared former East Java DPRD Deputy Chairman Sahat Tua Simanjuntak. Of the 21 suspects, four are recipients (state officials) and 17 are givers (15 private sector parties and 2 state officials).
