KPK Grills West Lombok Deputy Regent over Procurement Modus Operandi in Regent Lalu Ahmad Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has examined a number of witnesses, including West Lombok Deputy Regent Nurul Adha, in connection with the corruption case implicating West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini. During the examination, KPK investigators questioned Nurul about the modus operandi of goods and services procurement in West Lombok Regency.
“The witnesses were each asked for information on how the procurement modus operandi for goods and services within the West Lombok Regency administration was carried out,” KPK spokesperson Budi Presetyo said in a statement to journalists on Saturday (15/8/2026).
“It is suspected that there was a conflict of interest in the process, as stipulated under Article 12(i) of the Corruption Eradication Law,” he continued.
Budi explained that investigators in this case found that the mechanisms and standard operating procedures for goods and services procurement were not fully implemented. Moreover, a number of projects are suspected of having had their winners pre-arranged from the outset.
In addition to the procurement modus operandi, investigators also questioned the witnesses about the methods of bribery carried out by private parties against Regent Lalu Ahmad. This included items seized by investigators during search operations.
“Investigators also probed the bribery methods used by private parties against the Regent in connection with a number of projects at the West Lombok regional drinking water company,” Budi said.
“Investigators also confirmed a number of findings from the search activities,” he added.
