KPK Grills Silmy Karim on Asset Origins in Foreigner Residence Permit Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has again examined former Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Wamen Imipas) Silmy Karim as a suspect in an alleged extortion and gratification case related to the processing of limited stay permits (ITAS) for foreign nationals (WNA). During this session, investigators probed the origins of a number of assets seized from Silmy’s home.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that Silmy was examined as a suspect on Friday (19/6/2026). In the examination, investigators confirmed the alleged receipt of money from extortion and gratification.
“The examination material concerned the alleged receipt by SK from extortion and gratification, and confirmation regarding the origins of the assets that have been seized,” Budi told reporters on Saturday (20/6/2026).
After undergoing examination at the KPK’s Merah Putih building, Silmy did not provide any statement to the media. From his arrival until he left the premises, he chose to remain silent regarding the examination material.
It is known that Silmy Karim has been detained by the KPK. Besides Silmy, seven other individuals have been named as suspects. Silmy and the others are charged with extortion and gratification.
