KPK Grills Heri ‘Black’ on Alleged Obstruction of Customs Import Case

The KPK has examined businessman Heri Setiyono, known as Heri Black, as a witness in the alleged import corruption case at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. This time, the anti-graft body questioned Heri about findings suggesting attempts to hinder the investigation. “Previously, the KPK also examined staff members of HS regarding information about the collection of materials and data suspected of aiming to obstruct the investigation of this case,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (11/6/2026). Budi stated that Heri’s examination results would be analysed and cross-checked against other evidence already held by investigators in the case. “Investigators will certainly analyse and probe deeper into the information obtained, both from BBE and witness testimonies,” Budi said. “Whether this falls under the elements of Article 21 or obstruction of investigation, we will follow developments,” he added. On the same occasion, Budi also responded to Heri’s earlier claim that containers seized by the KPK at Tanjung Mas Port in Semarang did not belong to him. Budi said the KPK would conduct a comprehensive verification of all findings. “We will prove it. Of course, statements are not taken from just one side. Every finding obtained by the team, whether through search activities or other investigations, will be supplemented with witness statements,” Budi explained. “And certainly more than one witness will be asked to provide clarification on the findings from the search,” he concluded. Heri Black was re-examined by the KPK as a witness today. After questioning, Heri stated that the containers seized by the KPK at Tanjung Mas Port were not his. “No, they aren’t,” Heri Black said after being examined at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (11/6/2026). Heri was answering journalists’ questions regarding the ownership of containers seized at Tanjung Mas Port in Semarang. He then immediately left without responding to further questions. Today’s questioning marked the second time the KPK has examined Heri Black in connection with this case. He was previously questioned on Monday (18/5). The KPK initially named six suspects following a sting operation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise in an import bribery case. The agency seized evidence in the graft case valued at a total of Rp 40.5 billion. The evidence seized included cash in rupiah amounting to Rp 1.89 billion, USD 182,900 in cash, SGD 1.48 million in cash, JPY 55,000 in cash, 2.5 kg of precious metals equivalent to Rp 7.4 billion, 2.8 kg of precious metals equivalent to Rp 8.3 billion, and one luxury watch valued at Rp 138 million. Three private parties in this case are currently standing trial: John Field as the head of Blueray Cargo, Deddy Kurniawan Sukolo as Operations Manager, and Andri as head of the documents team. The three executives from PT Blueray Cargo are charged with providing SGD 61.3 billion in funds and offering various facilities and luxury goods worth up to Rp 1.8 billion. KPK prosecutors deemed the defendants’ actions in violation of Article 605 paragraph 1 letter a and Article 606 paragraph 1 of Law Number 1 of 2023, the Criminal Code.
