The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) grilled Acting Mayor (Plt) of Madiun, Bagus Panuntun, on requests for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from private parties during today’s examination.

“For the Acting Mayor, the questioning delved into the planning and requests for CSR funds made by the Madiun City Government to private entities related to the implementation of projects in the City of Madiun,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the agency’s office in Jakarta on Monday (11/5) evening.

The examination is intended to complete the case file for three suspects: the inactive Mayor of Madiun, Maidi; Maidi’s trusted aide, Rochim Ruhdiyanto; and the Head of the Public Works Department (Dinas PUPR) of Madiun City, Thariq Megah.

Today, the KPK also examined two other witnesses: Acting Head of the Transportation Department of Madiun City, Agus Mursidi, and Secretary of the Public Works Department of Madiun City, Agus Tri Tjahjanto.

“As for the witnesses from Public Works, they were questioned in depth regarding permits that were not issued by the department or the city government to private parties who did not provide CSR funds as per the amount requested by the Mayor of Madiun,” Budi stated.

“In its construction, it is alleged that the mayor determined the amount that must be given by private parties undertaking projects in Madiun City,” he added.

Budi explained that there are suspicions of threats if CSR funds are not provided, with private parties allegedly being denied projects.

Maidi and the two other suspects have already been detained by the KPK in a detention centre.

The case was uncovered by the KPK through a Handcuff Operation (OTT) conducted in January 2026.

In that covert operation, the KPK discovered and seized cash evidence amounting to Rp550 million.

From the OTT, the KPK also uncovered allegations of corruption involving requests for fees for issuing permits within the Madiun City Government to business actors such as hotels, minimarkets, and franchises.

During the ongoing investigation, the KPK has raided numerous locations, including Maidi’s private residence, Thariq’s private residence, the Mayor’s Office, and several departmental offices in Madiun City.

Numerous pieces of evidence related to the case, such as documents and cash, were successfully seized.
