KPK Fully Supports Attorney General's 'Team 9' in Handling Febrie Adriansyah Case
The KPK has responded positively to the special investigation team formed by the Attorney General’s Office to probe the case implicating former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah. The KPK said most of the prosecutors involved in the team will work optimally.
“The first thing we see is that this is positive progress, because the Attorney General’s Office promptly formed a special team whose members include former KPK personnel, particularly public prosecutors,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK’s Red and White Building in South Jakarta on Wednesday (15/7/2026).
Budi interpreted the appointment of the nine people in the special team as an indication of considerable capacity. He also assessed that prosecutors who once worked at the KPK are greatly needed to uncover the case.
“This means we see that their competence and experience from serving at the KPK are needed to assist in the investigation of this case,” he explained.
Budi expressed confidence in the special team’s abilities. According to him, the progress made by the team so far has been positive, as the KPK is also monitoring developments.
“So we shall see how things unfold today and in the future. If there are indeed obstacles, challenges or impediments later on, we can certainly resolve them together, because from the outset the KPK has maintained intensive, albeit informal, communication with colleagues at the National Police and the Attorney General’s Office,” he said.
Budi explained that communication between the KPK and the Attorney General’s Office continues in investigating the Febrie Adriansyah case. He said this is also regulated in the KPK’s authority and duties under Article 6 of Law No. 19 of 2019.
“It is then detailed further regarding supervision in Presidential Regulation No. 102 of 2020, in which supervision has stages. This means we see there are mechanisms and stages that are the standard procedures the KPK must follow to carry out coordination or supervision,” he continued.
Budi said the KPK’s supervision ranges from monitoring, examination and review, to taking over a case. For that reason, he said, the KPK cannot simply take over a case that has been delegated to the Attorney General’s Office.
“So everything has its stages and mechanisms. We shall see how the investigation of this case develops at the Attorney General’s Office. Of course, the KPK gives its full support so that the investigation of this case can proceed effectively,” he said.
Attorney General’s Office Forms Team of 9
Previously, the Attorney General’s Office formed a special investigation team to probe the case implicating former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah. The special team comprises nine senior prosecutors, the majority of whom are alumni of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
“In the new investigation order (Sprindik) we issued — a special Investigation Order — we formed a special team consisting of nine people,” said Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre Anang Supriatna to reporters at the Attorney General’s Office Main Building in South Jakarta on Wednesday (15/7/2026).
Anang revealed that the team’s composition was deliberately drawn from prosecutors with experience in handling corruption cases, including those who previously served at the KPK.
“What is clear is that most of these investigators are former KPK alumni — prosecutors who once served at the KPK,” he explained.
“There are about nine people, including Mr Riyono, Ms Chatarina Girsang and Mr Zet Tadung Allo,” Anang added.
