KPK Fully Supports Attorney General's 'Team 9' in Handling Febrie Adriansyah Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has welcomed the formation of a special investigative team by the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) to handle the case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah. The KPK stated that the majority of the prosecutors involved in the team will work optimally. “Firstly, we see this as positive progress because the Kejagung promptly formed a special team, whose members include former KPK personnel, specifically public prosecutors,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in South Jakarta on Wednesday (15/7/2026). Budi interpreted the appointment of the nine individuals to the special team as a sign of their strong capacity. He also assessed that prosecutors who have previously worked at the KPK are greatly needed to help uncover the case. “This means we see that the competence and experience they gained while serving at the KPK are required to assist in the investigation process of this case,” he explained. Budi expressed confidence in the special team’s abilities. According to him, the progress made by the special team is currently positive, as the KPK is also monitoring the situation. “So we will see how things develop today and going forward. If there are indeed obstacles, challenges, or hindrances, we can certainly work through them together because from the outset, the KPK has been communicating intensively, albeit informally, with our colleagues at the Police and the Attorney General’s Office,” he said. Budi explained that communication between the KPK and the Attorney General’s Office is ongoing in the investigation of the Febrie Adriansyah case. He noted that this is also regulated under the authority and duties of the KPK in Article 6 of Law 19 of 2019. “This is further detailed regarding supervision in Presidential Regulation 102 of 2020, where supervision has its stages. This means we are observing the mechanisms and stages that are the standard procedure the KPK must follow to carry out coordination or supervision,” he continued. Budi stated that the KPK’s supervision ranges from monitoring, research, and review, to taking over a case. Therefore, he said, the KPK cannot simply take over a case that has been delegated to the Attorney General’s Office. “Thus, everything has its stages and mechanisms. So we will see how the investigation of this case develops at the Attorney General’s Office. Of course, the KPK fully supports this so that the investigation can proceed effectively,” he remarked. Previously, the Attorney General’s Office had formed a special investigative team to probe the case involving former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah. This special team is filled by nine senior prosecutors, the majority of whom are alumni of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). “In the new investigation warrant we issued, we formed a special team. It consists of nine people,” said the Head of the Attorney General’s Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, to reporters at the Attorney General’s Main Building in South Jakarta on Wednesday (15/7/2026). Anang revealed that the team’s composition was deliberately selected from prosecutors with experience in handling corruption cases, including those who have served at the KPK. “Clearly, most of these investigators are former KPK alumni. Prosecutors who have served at the KPK,” he clarified. “Approximately nine people, including Mr Riyono, Ms Chatarina Girsang, and Zet Tadung Allo,” Anang added.
