KPK: Extradition Trial for Paulus Tannos to Continue in August 2026

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that the trial regarding the extradition of fugitive Paulus Tannos, also known as Thian Po Tjhin, in Singapore is scheduled to continue in August 2026.

“The next stage, namely the committal hearing, is scheduled for August 2026,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Friday. According to Budi, the hearing will involve hearing final submissions from both parties, including the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, represented by the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) of Singapore, and the legal counsel for Paulus Tannos. However, he noted that the extradition subject may still pursue legal remedies against the court’s decision.

Meanwhile, the KPK expressed its positive response to the Singapore High Court’s decision to reject Paulus Tannos’s application regarding the extradition process. “This decision is an important development in cross-jurisdictional law enforcement efforts and further paves the way for the acceleration of the ongoing extradition process,” he stated. He added that the KPK remains committed to resolving the case involving Paulus Tannos once the extradition is realised.

Previously, on 13 August 2019, the KPK named Paulus Tannos a suspect in the expanded investigation of the electronic ID card (e-KTP) case, which allegedly caused state financial losses of up to Rp2.3 trillion. However, Paulus Tannos fled abroad and changed his identity. He has been on the anti-corruption agency’s most wanted list (DPO) since 19 October 2021. Currently, Paulus Tannos has been apprehended by Singaporean authorities, and the Indonesian Government has formally submitted an extradition request to the Government of Singapore.
