KPK explains why no suspect named despite seizing Rp1.5 billion in Bogor case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed the reason it has not yet named anyone as a suspect, despite having secured evidence in the form of Rp1.5 billion in cash related to an investigation into alleged corruption within the Bogor Regency Government, West Java.

“There is not yet sufficient evidence to determine a suspect or the parties who would be responsible for the alleged criminal act of corruption,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Friday.

Meanwhile, Budi explained that the Rp1.5 billion was secured by the KPK during the preliminary inquiry stage, not the formal investigation stage.

“That is correct, there was indeed a sum of money secured in the series of preliminary inquiry activities with a value of around Rp1.5 billion. The money secured at the preliminary inquiry stage will of course later be subject to seizure at the investigation stage,” he said.

Previously, news circulated that the KPK had conducted a sting operation in Bogor Regency on 20 August 2026.

The KPK subsequently corrected this information by stating that no sting operation had taken place in Bogor Regency.

A day later, the KPK announced the issuance of a general investigation warrant related to the alleged receipt of money by state officials in the Bogor Regency Government originating from deductions of collector wages at the Bogor Regency Regional Revenue Management Agency.

Accordingly, no party has yet been named as a suspect by the KPK because the case is still at the general investigation warrant stage.
