The Attorney General’s Office has named former Head of the Attorney General’s Special Crimes Section (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, as a suspect in a money laundering (TPPU) case. Febrie has been detained by the Attorney General’s Office and placed in the KPK’s detention centre.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained the reasons for Febrie’s detention at the KPK facility. Budi said the KPK was providing support in the handling of the case by the Attorney General’s Office.

“Today the KPK is providing support and assistance regarding the placement of detention for the suspect, Mr FA, in connection with the money laundering case being investigated by the Attorney General’s Office,” Budi said at a press conference at the KPK on Friday evening (24/7/2026).

Budi said the KPK had received a letter from the Attorney General’s Office requesting the detention placement. Febrie will be held for the first 20 days at the KPK detention centre.

“This detention placement assistance is based on a letter from the Attorney General’s Office which was then received by the KPK. So the suspect, Mr FA, will be detained for the next 20 days at the KPK’s Red-and-White Building detention centre,” he said.

Budi added that Febrie’s detention is entirely the authority of the Attorney General’s Office’s investigators. He noted that Febrie is not the first detainee from the Attorney General’s Office to be placed in the KPK’s detention centre.

“The detention of the suspect Mr FA is entirely within the authority of the investigators at the Attorney General’s Office, based of course on the needs of the investigation into the case,” he said.

It is understood that the Attorney General’s Office is investigating a total of four case orders (Sprindik) related to the transfer of Febrie’s cases from the National Police. Most recently, Team 9 issued a new case order concerning alleged money laundering in the case involving the discovery of 74 kg of gold and hundreds of billions of rupiah in cash at Febrie Adriansyah’s house in Sentul, West Java.

The three previous case orders cover alleged corruption at ASABRI, Krakatau Steel and the coal procurement for coal-fired power plants, which previously caused power outages or blackouts.

Febrie was previously questioned at the Attorney General’s Office. He began giving testimony from 13:00 WIB. At 19:00 WIB, Febrie was named a suspect. He is now detained by the Attorney General’s Office and placed in the KPK’s detention centre.

The Attorney General’s Office revealed the modus operandi allegedly employed by Febrie. He is suspected of committing money laundering while serving at the Attorney General’s Office.

“The modus operandi in general is the alleged money laundering committed by a state official in his position as a prosecutor or structural official during his tenure, serving at the Attorney General’s Office,” said Attorney General for Supervision (Jamwas) Rudi Margono, who also coordinates Team 9 handling Febrie’s case at the Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta on Friday evening (24/7).

Rudi declined to elaborate further on the money laundering case, saying it already touched on evidentiary matters.

“I will not go into more detail because it relates to the evidence; if I disclose it, it will make things difficult for us going forward,” he said.
