Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has explained the reasons for arresting Golkar Party Central Leadership Board (DPP) Chairperson Fahd Arafiq in a sting operation (OTT) within the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN).

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said the anti-corruption agency arrested the politician because it requires his testimony.

“Yes, it means the testimony of those detained is needed to provide initial explanations at this stage of the investigation,” Budi told journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He said Fahd Arafiq’s account could therefore help the KPK reconstruct the chronology of the alleged corruption offence.

“Every explanation he gives could help us to reconstruct how this case unfolded, including the chronology of events,” he said.

Previously, the KPK confirmed on 14 September 2026 that it had carried out its 20th sting operation of the year. The operation related to alleged corruption in the processing of building-use rights (HGB) for Summarecon in Bogor Regency, West Java.

The KPK said it had arrested 17 people in the operation, including the Director General of Land and Spatial Control and Enforcement at the ATR/BPN Ministry, Lampri; the Head of the Bogor Regency Land Office, I Sontang Coin Manurung; and the Head of the Tangerang City Land Office, Tardi.

Also detained were Golkar DPP Chairperson Fahd Arafiq, former Regent of Kebumen Arif Sugiyanto, and the President Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk, Adrianto Pitojo Adhi.

From the operation, the KPK seized cash evidence in rupiah and foreign currencies estimated to reach hundreds of billions of rupiah.

The money was wrapped or packed in boxes, cardboard cartons and suitcases, numbering around 20 items.

Under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 1 x 24 hours to determine the status of those arrested in the operation.
