The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has explained the reasons for searching several rooms within the Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) during a series of raids conducted between 4–6 July 2026 in Riau. This action is part of the ongoing investigation into alleged bribery involving the inactive Regent of Kuansing, Suhardiman Amby.

“There are allegations that the collection process was carried out by the Regent through an intermediary,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

However, Budi could not yet disclose further details regarding the identity of this intermediary, specifically whether they are a leader within the Kuansing DPRD or another individual. He noted that the KPK is focused on deepening its investigation into the role of the individual acting as the money collector for Suhardiment Amby.

“We will certainly investigate the role of these intermediaries, specifically whether they were passive or active participants,” he added.

Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) in Kuantan Singingi and Jakarta on 29 June 2026, resulting in the detention of 10 individuals. This marked the 14th sting operation carried out by the KPK throughout 2026. Following the operation, Suhardiman Amby and the Kuansing Regional Secretary, Zulkarnain, surrendered themselves to the KPK on 30 June 2026.

On 1 July 2026, the KPK named Suhardiman, Zulkarnain, and the President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, Ardiles, as suspects in a bribery case related to the trading of official positions within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government. In addition to the bribery allegations, the KPK suspects Suhardiman received gratifications related to the processing of the release of limited production forest areas.

Following the involvement of his name in the case, Minister of Forestry Raja Juli explained on 3 July 2026 that during an audience with Suhardiman on 2 June 2026, the regional leader left behind an envelope enclosed in a folder. According to Raja Juli, he only realised the existence of the envelope after Suhardiman had left the room. He subsequently instructed his aide to return the envelope without knowing its contents.

Raja Juli stated that the return of the envelope took place on 12 June 2026, after a delay caused by scheduling conflicts. The envelope was returned to Suhardiman via his aide in Kuantan Singingi. On 3 July 2026, Raja Juli also reported the rejection of this gratification to the KPK.
