KPK explains reason for arresting second wife of Kuansing Regent

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has explained the reason for arresting Suci Nita Edwar, the second wife of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby (SA), during a sting operation (OTT).

Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, stated that the second wife was detained because the field team only found her at SA’s residence as a witness in the case. Additionally, Taufik said the KPK arrested Suhardiman’s second wife because she was using one of the vehicles that serves as evidence in the case.

“We also detained the Regent’s second wife because, coincidentally, the Pajero Sport vehicle was being used by the Regent’s second wife, and the status of that Pajero Sport is no longer a lease because it is an older model. It has been completed, meaning it is fully paid off,” he said.

Therefore, he stated that the KPK arrested Suhardiman’s second wife to further investigate the Pajero Sport Dakar worth Rp700 million, which is evidence in the alleged bribery case related to the sale and purchase of the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Department position in Kuansing in 2021.

Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau, and Jakarta on 29 June 2026, securing 10 individuals. This operation was the 14th OTT conducted by the KPK throughout 2026. Of that number, five people were taken to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building for intensive examination. They consisted of three private parties, a civil servant from the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government, and Suhardiman’s wife, Suci Nitia Edwar.

The KPK then requested that Suhardiman and Kuantan Singingi Regional Secretary Zulkarnain surrender themselves on 30 June 2026. Both complied with the request and were picked up by investigators at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten. On 1 July 2026, the KPK named Suhardiman Amby, Zulkarnain, and the President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, Ardiles, as suspects in the alleged bribery case related to the sale and purchase of positions within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government. In addition to the alleged bribery, the KPK also suspects Suhardiman of receiving gratuities related to the release of a limited production forest area.
