KPK expands corruption case against Tulungagung Regent to suspected gratuities
Tulungagung, East Java (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission is opening the possibility of developing the case of alleged corruption ensnaring the inactive Regent of Tulungagung, Gatut Sunu Wibowo, and his aide Dwi Yoga Ambal, towards suspected gratuities.
“If evidence is found regarding other receipts or gratuities, we will certainly develop it to strengthen the proof of the case,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, when confirmed by Tulungagung media personnel via telephone on Thursday.
He stated that currently, investigators are still focusing on completing the construction of the case of alleged extortion against several heads of regional device organisations (OPD) in Tulungagung.
“Complete, honest, and truthful witness statements will make this case construction even clearer,” he said.
In the investigation process, the KPK has examined nine officials and staff in the Tulungagung Regency Government environment at the BPKP East Java Representative Office in Surabaya as part of deepening the case.
Budi explained that the investigation is being conducted intensively given the limited time of the initial detention period for the suspects.
Currently, the first stage detention period is still ongoing and can be extended according to investigation needs.
According to him, all investigation results will later be handed over to the public prosecutor to be brought to trial so that they can be tested openly.
The KPK affirms that the case handling is carried out professionally and transparently to ensure the legal process runs according to provisions and provides legal certainty to the public.
