KPK Examines Three Hajj Bureau Directors, One in North Sumatra and Two in Jakarta
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned three individuals from Hajj organising bureaus, namely one in North Sumatra and two in Jakarta, as witnesses in the investigation into the alleged corruption of the Hajj quota.
“The examination took place at the Provincial Financial and Development Supervisory Agency Representative Office in North Sumatra, and the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/4).
Budi explained that the witness summoned in North Sumatra was AG, Director of PT Biro Perjalanan Wisata Zulian Kamsaindo.
Meanwhile, the two witnesses summoned in Jakarta were TL, President Director of PT Megahbuana Laena Persada, and BD, President Director of PT Annatama Purna Tour.
Previously, on 9 August 2025, the KPK initiated the investigation into the alleged corruption of the Indonesian Hajj quota for 2023-2024.
On 9 January 2026, the KPK named former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and Ishfah Abidal Aziz alias Gus Alex as suspects.
Meanwhile, Fuad Hasan Masyhur, owner of the Hajj organising bureau Maktour, was not named as a suspect, although he was once banned from leaving the country.
The KPK then received the audit results from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) of Indonesia on 27 February 2026, which stated that the state financial loss in the case amounted to Rp622 billion.
Subsequently, on 12 March 2026, the KPK detained Yaqut at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building Branch State Detention House, followed by the detention of Ishfah on 17 March 2026.
The KPK temporarily changed Yaqut’s detention status to house arrest on 19 March 2026 at the family’s request, but re-detained him at the KPK Detention House after Eid, namely on 24 March 2026.
Then, on 30 March 2026, the KPK named two new suspects, namely Maktour’s Operational Director Ismail Adham and Chairman of the Indonesian Hajj and Umrah Travel Union (Kesthuri) Asrul Aziz Taba.
