KPK Examines Personal Assistant of Inactive Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu in Rp2.7 Billion Extortion Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is continuing to develop its investigation into a corruption case implicating the inactive Regent of Tulungagung, Gatut Sunu Wibowo. The anti-graft body has now summoned Gatut Sunu’s personal assistant for questioning as a witness. The examination was conducted at the East Java Regional Police headquarters alongside several other witnesses from the contractor and private sector circles. This step is part of the KPK’s efforts to delve deeper into the alleged extortion and other receipts within the Tulungagung Regency Government.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the summoned witness bears the initials FJ, who is known to serve as the Regent’s personal assistant as well as a member of the Regional Development Acceleration Team. “The KPK has scheduled a witness examination at the East Java Regional Police for FJ, in his capacity as the Regent’s personal assistant and member of the Regional Development Acceleration Team,” Budi told reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.

In addition to examining Gatut Sunu’s personal assistant, the KPK also summoned three other witnesses to provide testimony. They are RSM, a contractor; TGR, a contractor; and ANW, an administrator at CV Triple S. The examination of these witnesses is part of the ongoing investigation process.

Previously, on Monday, 13 July 2026, the KPK had examined four witnesses at the East Java Regional Police. These four witnesses included LUT, the Director of PT Has Putra Indonesia; MAL, the Director of CV Karya Remaja; ED, the Director of CV Bumi Mitra Sejahtera; and BS, the Director of CV Mitra Karya Sejati. Then, on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, investigators again summoned four other witnesses, namely SRW, the Director of CV Mutiara Karya Sejati; VER, the Director of CV Sarana Pembangunan; ASC, the Director of CV Armada Perkasa; and RF, the Head of Environmental Management at the Tulungagung Regency Environmental Agency. This series of examinations is being carried out to complete the body of evidence in the investigation of the case ensnaring Gatut Sunu Wibowo.

The case originated from a sting operation conducted by the KPK in Tulungagung Regency, East Java, on 10 April 2026.
